Butt (broadcast using this tool) is a great free option to live broadcast your online radio station on the internet.
With versions for Windows, Linux and Mac OS, it is quickly gaining ground in web radio studios!
In this guide, we will learn how to setup Butt to broadcast live over the internet through the Windows system.
To download Butt, click here.
The installation simple and fast!
Just open the compressed file “broadcast_using_this_tool_installer.zip“, run “butt-0.1.30-setup.exe“, and click “Next >” until finished.
To start configuring it, open the software and then click on the “Settings” menu.
In the “Server” field, click on “Add“, and the screen for setting up your radio station will open.
Once this is done, just to be sure we do not forget it later, change the broadcast type to “IceCast“!
Now let’s check the data needed to start the live broadcast, which is available in your control panel!
Access your BRLOGIC Account, click on “Manage my online radio“, navigate to “Online Radio” and then “Broadcaster passwords“, as shown in the image below:
On this screen you will see the list of all broadcaster passwords available.
To see your broadcaster data, just click on “Broadcast info“, in the corresponding line.
All the information you need is on this page! 😁
Now let’s configure Butt step-by-step, so that everything goes right.
First, copy the information available in the “Server IP” and “Encoder Password” fields from your control panel and then, paste to the “Address:” and “Password:” fields, respectively, inside the software.
See the image below as an example:
Oh, and you can type your radio’s station name in the “Name:” field!
Then, still on this screen, follow the image below and copy the information available in the “Server Port” field to the “Port:” field.
Finally, just type “live“, without the quotes, in the “IceCast mountpoint” field. Attention! The “/”, normally used in this part of the configuration, should be omitted in this case.
Now just click on the “ADD” button to save the data!
Hold on, we’re almost done here!
We’ve already configured the authentication settings, and now we just need to set the audio codec and quality so that your live broadcast is synchronized with the Auto Dj settings.
Still on the “Settings” screen, click on the “Audio” tab.
In “Audio Device” choose the source of the audio that will be captured (for example, microphone, mixer, virtual sound card, among others).
In the fields “Channel“, “Samplerate“, “Codec” and “Bitrate“, select the same data provided in your online radio dashboard, the same way as performed in the previous step.
And not it’s done!
To start the live broadcast with Butt, just click on the Play button, as marked below. 🙂
